As someone who has always been passionate about data, I’ve found immense satisfaction in building beautiful dashboards and uncovering insights through analytics. Data has always fascinated me; it rules the world and drives decisions across industries. Yet, over the past year, I’ve found myself drawn to another realm that complements my data skills — Product Management.

I hope to combine my expertise in data with my newfound passion for product management intensively in future projects and roles. While I will always be a “data girl,” recognizing the irreplaceable value of data, the allure of building products, features, and processes has become increasingly intriguing. The thought of giving up one for the other is simply not an option for me; instead, I aim to blend both disciplines seamlessly.

My transition into product management began as a consideration last year, driven by several factors:

  1. Industry Saturation: The data industry, particularly at the entry level, has become saturated. Proving oneself and securing opportunities can be challenging amidst the competition. This realization pushed me to diversify my skill set and explore new avenues where I could make a significant impact.
  2. Desire for Impact: While I enjoyed creating dashboards that garnered likes on Tableau Public and LinkedIn, I yearned for more. I wanted my work to have a tangible, commensurate impact and real-world application. Product management offered a path to see my contributions come to life in the form of user-friendly products that solve real problems.
  3. Autonomy and Ownership: I discovered that I thrive on autonomy and the responsibility of product ownership. Product management allows me to channel this energy, taking charge of a product from ideation to launch. The ability to guide a product through its lifecycle, ensuring it meets user needs and achieves its goals, is incredibly fulfilling.

These are my top three reasons for delving into product management. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, blending my analytical skills with the creative and strategic aspects of product development.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the possibilities in my PM journey. I aspire to create user-friendly products that are heavily utilized and appreciated by a wide audience. The entire process of ideation, brainstorming, strategizing, researching, analyzing, and bringing a product to life is something I eagerly look forward to.

In conclusion, my dual role in data analytics and product management allows me to leverage the best of both worlds. I am committed to continuous learning and growth, aiming to make a significant impact through innovative and data-driven products. Thank you for joining me on this journey — I can’t wait to share more insights and experiences with you as I navigate this exciting path.
